Laughlin
& Constable
corporate interior, signage, fixtures & furniture
location: Milwaukee, WI
role: interior design, furniture, fixtures
styles: mechanical, contemporary
materials: steel, glass, found objects
Flux has created several works for the offices of this prominent marketing
firm's Milwaukee office. The client wanted a very unique style that would
amaze & intrigue their incoming clients & guests. Done in the "mechanical"
style, the desk, bench, doorway, and signage seem to want to move along
their joints and hinges, powered by what looks like hydraulic lines. The
massive conference table was constructed from salvaged bearings. Amazingly,
these works were constructed from found objects and there has been no machining
involved, even the hydraulic lines have been hand bent from plain steel
rod. These mechanical furniture pieces can be seen in the Laughlin &
Constable lobby at 207 e. michigan st. in downtown Milwaukee.
